Women were rarely written into the history of Australia until the 1970s and afterwards. This meant that the written history of Australia failed to portray the “true” social history that was colourful and full of life, with women, men AND children of all creeds, classes and ethnicities. Australia is one of the most functional multicultural countries in the world, and yet we are still learning about its “hidden” histories.
